What red light actually is...
Red light therapy, also called low-level light therapy or photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of visible red and near-infrared light. It is not UV light. It does not tan the skin and it does not burn.
When red light reaches the skin, it is absorbed by structures inside your cells, including the mitochondria, often described as the cell's energy centers. Red light has been studied for decades across many areas of wellness, including its role in the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and temporary increases in local blood circulation.
Why circulation matters...
Local blood circulation is simply how blood moves through the tissue nearest the light. A temporary increase is part of what makes a session feel warm and relaxing, and it is one of the two things LumaV is intended to do.
Why these seasons in particular...
Postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause have something in common that rarely gets said out loud: they ask a lot of the body, and the symptoms that come with them are often brushed aside as something to put up with.
Postpartum
The fourth trimester is physically demanding in so many ways. Hours of feeding in one position, carrying a baby on one hip, broken sleep, and very little time to sit down all add up to soreness and tired muscles. Most new mothers have no window in the day to stop and rest, which is exactly why a hands-free session matters more than a longer one.
Perimenopause
As the body begins to shift, many women notice they feel stiffer, dryer, that aches linger a little longer, and that their usual routines take more out of them. This is a common experience and it is worth taking seriously rather than ignoring. A short, warm session is an easy thing to build into a day that already feels full.
Menopause
By this stage, many women are also managing changes in sleep, energy, and temperature. Everyday aches and dryness sit on top of all of it. Ten to twenty minutes of warm light is a small, repeatable act of care, and the temporary increase in local circulation is part of what makes it feel good.
What ties the three together is time. Each of these seasons gives a woman less of it, not more. LumaV is cordless and hands-free so a session can happen during the dishes or the school run, rather than waiting for a quiet moment that never comes.
Why design makes a difference...
Not all red light devices are alike. Wavelength, output, coverage, and how the device actually sits on the body all shape the experience. Many red light products are panels or wraps built for large, flat areas like a back or a shoulder.
LumaV was designed around a different question: what would a woman actually want to wear? The result is a flexible pad worn externally, shaped to stay comfortably in place while you go about your day, cordless so nothing tethers you, and sized for 10 to 20 minute sessions that fit into a real life.
What we will and will not claim...
We think honesty is part of good design. LumaV is intended for the temporary relief of minor muscle pain and a temporary increase in local blood circulation. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA for any other use. Individual results vary.
